Mauricio Pochettino downplays his influence on new Spurs deals

Tottenham have already thrown away leads against Watford (twice), Inter Milan and PSV Eindhoven this season and, having almost done so again at Wolves, captain Hugo Lloris has urged his teammates to add some pragmatism to Pochettino's philosophy and learn when to simply see out the game.

Harry Kane scored what turned out to be the winning goal against Wolves and the England worldwide is certain to keep his place up front with Fernando Llorente once again on the bench.

Mauricio Pochettino's men were made to work for three points as Juan Foyth, on his maiden Premier League start, conceded two penalties from which Ruben Neves and Raul Jimenez eroded a three-goal buffer.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino claimed the pitch was partly to blame for their 1-0 defeat to Manchester City last Monday - citing the surface as the reason Erik Lamela missed a glaring opportunity.

In truth, the contrast between their respective performances earlier in the season means that Pochettino doesn't have much of a decision to make. When people criticise me I accept the criticism.

"But yes, I was so happy right from the beginning". Since I arrived here we created a very good culture about fight and altogether the belief. It is a team that is always going to give the faith in each game.

"The reality is to win titles today is hard for different reasons...but for me it's so exciting to be here at Tottenham, helping the club to achieve the last level". "But the most important thing is we got the three points".

Then some poor defending from the hosts contributed to the visitors' second in the 29th minute.

"It was a bad result for us but a fantastic reaction", he said. And yesterday I watched three episodes.

Central to Wolves strength this season has been the coach Nuno Espirito Santo who has stuck with the same starting line up for the majority of the campaign so far. "We will know better after the scan", Pochettino said. We did that out there [in the reverse fixture] but we didn't finish them off when we could have, and we ended up paying the price [with a draw].

Concerns about the game were raised when reports emerged that UEFA was due to perform an inspection of its condition, but the governing body has now confirmed it was a routine procedure done by Wembley staff.

Tottenham was boosted in the week with the news that Dele Alli has signed a long-term extension with the club, along with progressing into the quarterfinals of the league cup with a 2-0 win over West Ham.
