Now, with Diablo III having expanded to consoles-including, as of today, Nintendo Switch-Blizzard has its eyes set on what might be its most hard adaptation of the action RPG yet: mobile.

Familiar character classes like the Barbarian, Necromancer, Demon Hunter, Wizard, Crusader, and my boy the Monk return for loot-earning heroics. BlizzCon's Diablo Immortal announcement was the last thing most core fans of the franchise wanted. Blizzard claims that Diablo Immortal will be not only a true action RPG, but an in-depth online multiplayer experience.

In their quest to cleanse Sanctuary, players will embark on all manner of thrilling expeditions, including taking part in dynamic events across unique public zones, and hacking and slashing their way through instanced dungeons.

When rumors started surfacing that Blizzard had a big Diablo announcement prepped for its annual convention, fans naturally prepared themselves for the next game in the franchise: Diablo 4. Skarn intends to gather the fragments of the corrupted Worldstone and use them to resurrect Diablo. One fan asked if this announcement was an "out of season April Fool's joke".

"Our mobile phones are super powerful super computers", Blizzard's Wyatt Cheng said. "With their incredible passion for Diablo and proven mobile expertise, the development team has spawned an ultra-responsive and breathtakingly handsome mobile game, and we can't wait for players to get their hands on it". (An iOS version of the game was also announced, though no iOS listing for the game yet exists.) Blizzard did not announce information about the game's pricing structure or release window.

BlizzCon 2018 takes place this weekend, and would make for a great stage to announce Diablo amiibo.

The news comes from reddit user /u/justMaku, who revealed that game supports three amiibo - a default/generic character, a treasure goblin, and a demon.
