'Unique' Hazard can be Europe's best, says Sarri

Maurizio Sarri has claimed he does not see Chelsea challenging for the Premier League title in his debut season in charge, adding that Manchester City and Liverpool are now the main title contenders.

Pep Guardiola started Leroy Sane for the first time this campaign and last season's Premier League Young Player of the Year looked more like his old self as Fulham were put to the sword.

Olivier Giroud, the perennial supersub, took up a starting role for Chelsea this afternoon as the Blues came from behind to beat Cardiff 4-1 at the Bridge.

Sol Bamba shocked Chelsea with Cardiff's first away goal of the season, but Hazard's treble and a late goal by Willian saw Maurizio Sarri became the fourth manager to win his first five Premier League games.

"I thought Hazard was one of the best players in Europe but now I change my mind because maybe he is the best", Sarri said after Hazard's man-of-the-match performance. If he wants to play for another season, I think it's right that he tried to play.

Worryingly for the rest of the Premier League, Sarri believes Hazard can get even better if he stays further forward and wastes less time in his own half. "I think that he can spend less energy than now at 50 or 60 metres to the oppositions goal".

Hazard, who has scored or assisted in each of Chelsea's four games this season, took over the game shortly before halftime. "At the moment, in my opinion, Liverpool and Man city are better than us". It's very hard. The gap last season was 30 points so I think to go above 30 points in one season is very, very hard. I am very open with him because he is the history of the club.

"We need another step I think to be at the same level".
