After the maintenance is done, version 6.0.0 will be available in the Switch eShop, and you will be able to purchase a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. One is a pair of Nintendo Entertainment System Controllers that will work with the Nintendo Switch's enhanced NES games. There's no specific ship date attached to them just yet, but Nintendo are aiming to get them heading toward customers in December. These will include Super Mario Bros, Ice Climbers, and the original Legend of Zelda.

Switch Online is the Nintendo's unimaginatively-named subscription-based online service. While there are certain software perks that will be available to subscribers as part of the monthly fee, Nintendo has now shown off some new pieces of exclusive merchandise that will be available to subscribers as well. "It will also be possible to play these games offline".

So if you want to play some co-op Splatoon 2 or maybe some ARMS, then you'll need one of these.

While UK pricing hasn't yet been confirmed, we know how much it'll cost in the US.

This will be especially important if you have multiple Switch profiles in your house, such as those for children and other family members.

The long-awaited start of the online service for Nintendo's hybrid console is set in stone.

Nintendo Switch Online has been a long time coming.
