Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also serves as chief creative officer of Archie Comics, penned the script. Aguirre-Sacasa executive produces alongside Riverdale collaborators Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater and Lee Toland Krieger. A+ for branding. The Powers That Be did warn/promise fans that "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" would be quite dark.
Now that the two shows are on different networks, It remains to be seen if there will be any formal association between Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. It's described as in the vein of "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Exorcist" and finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while fighting the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit. In the revealed page, Sabrina shows the character Harvey (played by Ross Lynch) a "grove of trees" where she was born and tells him that she'll be "reborn" in that same spot on her 16th birthday.
