T-Mobile Essentials "is designed for those who say they just want the basics: unlimited talk, text and smartphone data in the USA", T-Mobile said. Video streaming on the new plan is limited to 480p quality, and during times of network congestion, T-Mobile Essentials customers may encounter slower speeds. AT&T's cheapest unlimited option, called Unlimited &More, costs $70 for one line of service. Sprint's least expensive unlimited plan, Unlimited Basic, costs $60 for a single line. Also, despite being advertized as an unlimited plan, throttling still hits after you pass over 50GB of used data in a month. Customers arent really going to save money with this plan when ONE costs a few bucks more with all the perks included. What used to be a $10 add-on for more tethering data and unlimited 3G speeds while traveling overseas, is now $15 per line. T-Mobile One is $160 for four lines. Theyve got Above Unlimited, Unlimited Plus, Beyond Unlimited, Unlimited and More…Unlimited and More Premium?!

T-Mobile's Essential plan sits below the carrier's "One" plan that includes a Netflix subscription with two or more lines of service, Gogo in-flight Wi-Fi, worldwide roaming and other goodies. You'll need to get a credit approval to sign up.

The plan is a viable option for those who are looking to save money on their phone bill and don't need or want Netflix and the worldwide data. You'll pay $5 more per line. if you don't use auto-pay. T-Mobile commissioned a survey in which "a whopping 86 percent of respondents "it is wrong for the price on your monthly wireless bill to be more than the advertised price" and said "wireless carriers should include taxes and fees in the prices they advertise", T-Mobile crowed in its press release". If not, and you don't ever go to Canada or Mexico, then I'm not sure why you wouldn't downgrade to this new Essentials plan. Also of note is that taxes and fees are extra with T-Mobile Essentials.

T-Mobiles plans are no longer simple for the average customer to understand.

There will be some extras available for the T-Mobile Essentials plan for customers who need them. Is T-Mobile still the UnCarrier? It starts at $40 per line with taxes and fees included for a family for four with autopay.
