Reports from the Madrid-based publication on Tuesday suggest that talks between Chelsea and Madrid are in an advanced phase and could be finalised soon, which would provide new boss Maurizio Sarri with the midfield reinforcement he has been calling for since arriving in London.
Inter are believed to want Modric to push for a move away from La Liga and this latest story is certainly an interesting development.
He said: "The level of excitement is as high as it can be, as it is with most of the players".
"The president [Florentino Pérez] spoke resoundingly and we do not have the slightest doubt that he [Modric] will continue to be happy playing with us".
The central midfielder has made 109 appearances for the Spanish giants since making the move to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2015, scoring three goals and assisting a further eight strikes.
He also enjoyed a stellar World Cup campaign with Croatia, inspiring their run to the final - where they lost 4-2 to France - and claiming the Golden Ball as the tournament's best player.
"You speak to me of problems with Kovacic, but this is the first I've heard of it", the Spaniard said.
"I see this is an opportunity to move forward as a collective, and fulfil the demands at this club".
