José Mourinho unsure when Anthony Martial will return to Manchester United training

Martial is believed to want to leave the club, and Mourinho is irritated that he has yet to return to action when his team are light of forwards. "Back tomorrow in Manchester".

Martial missed the final three friendlies of United's pre-season tour of America after flying home for the birth of his son.

His negative disposition during the pre-season tour in the United States are a continuation of last season's public outbursts at his own players.

Without the need to look for Cristiano Ronaldo at every opportunity, Gareth Bale and, more significantly, Karim Benzema, were free of the shackles and we saw the pair playing a much more natural game.

"And with the fantastic spirit we have in the majority of the players, I repeat: in the majority of the players, we have a fantastic spirit, we go with everything we have to go to the Premier League".

There are rumours of unrest between Jose Mourinho and Ed Woodward but the pair caught up for a chat after Manchester United's 2-1 victory over Real Madrid.

He even passed the question over to United's press officer, Karen Shotbolt, to answer.

The 55-year-old, who is entering his third season at Old Trafford, has a history of departing clubs during or after his third campaign as boss.

"I thought we wouldn't resist it but the boys gave everything and we try to fight for the best result".

What is a little worrying, however, is the fact that the report claims Mourinho will be unable to bring new players unless we sell first.

"We were just trying to survive and have the best possible results, but as I was saying to the players, some of my players will be in an awesome condition".

However, despite the new season looming there is hope for the Red Devils yet; if United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is willing to open up the chequebook and Mourinho can sign several of these players, Man Utd may finally return to former glories.
