The Queen's relationship with Meghan Markle compared to Kate Middleton friendship

Stop us if this sounds familiar: An American actress with a fancy title spent Thursday schmoozing with England's elite while dressed to the nines in an off-white ensemble at a royal event.

Her Royal Highness was notably absent at the event hosted in St. Paul's Cathedral, though.

Jolie was an unexpected treat for onlookers, but not entirely unlikely due to her expansive charity work as Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations (a title she's held since 2001).

The actress, director and activist attended the Service of Commemoration and Dedication, marking the 200th anniversary of the order of St Michael and St George, at St Paul's Cathedral on Thursday - the very same service Queen Elizabeth made a decision to skip after feeling unwell.

Judi believes when Kate joined the royal family, she "seemed to join the royal fold with no ripples created", which the Queen received well.

Instead, Prince Edward, Duke of Kent (her first cousin), served as Grand Master of the Order for the ceremony.

Fresh from wearing a blush Prada skirt suit, as she accompanied husband Prince Harry and Queen Elizabeth to the Queen's Young Leaders Awards in Buckingham Palace this week, Meghan has been spotted in another flawless outfit.

For the occasion, Jolie wore a dove-grey Ralph & Russo dress, which featured an open cowl neck, three-quarter length sleeves, a draped waist, and a thin cinching belt.

But not only to Jolie and Markle have Ralph & Russo in common, they also favor similarly cut clothes: the Duchess of Sussex favors boatneck cuts and sleek sheaths, a look that the A-lister also employs quite often. Only one (honorary) dame knows for sure.
