Enter the new budget warriors of Xiaomi - the Redmi 6 Pro and the Mi Pad 4 tablet.

Now there's also a mid-range Redmi handset sporting a divisive screen cutout, although the 6 Pro predictably lacks fancy 3D facial recognition technology. Xiaomi has shared some of the camera samples shot on the Redmi 6 Pro and they look good.

In the photography department, Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro comes with a dual-camera setup on the back featuring a 12-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel sensor. Meanwhile, the Mi Pad 4 is a tablet device with an 8-inch 16:10 display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, and a 6000mAh battery. The front 16MP selfie camera is a major upgrade on the affordable smartphone. Yuan 1,199 (or approx Rs 12,525) for the 4GB RAM and 32GB storage variant, and Yuan 1,299 (or approx Rs 13,570) for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model.

Xiaomi tried hard to resist the curious iPhone X-inspired notch trend for as long as humanly possible, but after maintaining the original design direction of the Mi MIX family yet again, the Chinese OEM threw in the towel with the Mi 8 lineup.

Connectivity options in the Mi Pad 4 include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, Global Positioning System and a USB Type-C port. Xiaomi even released an LTE variant of the tablet which is priced slightly higher than the Wi-Fi variant. The Redmi 6 Pro is backed by a 4000mAh and runs on MIUI 9 which is based on Android Oreo. 4G LTE / VoLTE, GPS, and Wi-Fi are connectivity options available on the smartphone. The 4GB RAM + 64GB storage with Wi-FI is priced at CNY 1,399 (Rs 14,500 approximately). But the Mi Pad 3 wasn't a great success for the company because of the hardware it offered, but that will surely change with the Mi Pad 4.

At $170 in China, Xiaomi has priced the Mi Pad 4 well, and other $50 will get you the LTE version. Under the hood, the mid-ranger features an octa-core Snapdragon 636 chipset by Qualcomm running at a max frequency of 1.8 GHz. The Redmi Y2 also comes with an identical octa-core processor, chipset, and the same graphics processing unit, but its base model features 3GB of RAM. While there is a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, it also supports the face unlock feature.
