The 2026 World Cup has 48 teams playing a total of 80 games: 60 planned for cities across the US, and 10 games in potentially three different cities in both Canada and Mexico.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup begins Thursday with hosts Russian Federation squaring off against Saudi Arabia in the opening game of the tournament.

The North American bid had to overcome concerns about the effects of policies of the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump. Their lone opponent was Morocco.

The 2026 World Cup will look a whole lot different from previous iterations of the tournament, thanks to the fact that it will be hosted by three countries - the United States, Mexico and Canada - and expanded to 48 teams for the first time.

The USA, Mexico and Canada have won a joint bid to host the 2026 soccer World Cup. Mexico will host games for a record third time, after the 1970 and 1986 editions.

The current blueprint calls for Canada and Mexico to get 10 each with the United States hosting 60, including all games from the quarterfinals on. The leaders of Mexico and Canada gleefully cheered the outcome, emphasizing unity with the United States.

The United Bid is expected to generate more than $14 billion in revenue and $11 billion in profits for FIFA, which will be shared with the 211 FIFA Member Associations, helping further develop and expand the game of football across the globe.

Launched on June 1, 2016, Daily Hive is the evolution of Vancity Buzz and is now in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal. Canada's sole World Cup appearance was in 1986 in Mexico, where they did not score a goal, losing to France, Hungry and the Soviet Union in the group stage.

Since the World Cup - at least on the men's side - must be played on grass, the artificial turf at Olympic Stadium will need to be replaced and the roof will need to open. "There would be tens of thousands of worldwide visitors that would be coming into the city, enjoying everything we have to offer", said Needle.

Miami is a flawless city to host World Cup matches.

World Cup 2018 Predictions: which team will be crowned champion?

The 2026 World Cup is coming to North America.

A total of 80 games will be played with 60 planned in the United States and 10 each in Canada and Mexico with the final played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, home to National Football League teams New York Giants and New York Jets.

BS: Not only gifts to potential voters but also the bidders offering to build a stadium in your country in exchange for your vote. Several hotels around the metro would host teams and FIFA VIPs during the tournament.
