Two vertically-aligned cameras are included on the back of the device, while both "Vivo" and "Nex" brandings are placed back there as well. Rather, the screen has a 91.24% screen-to-body ratio, only interrupted by a relatively slim chin at the bottom where the display components are held. The high-end model, dubbed as Vivo NEX S, is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 processor along with Adreno 630 GPU, 8GB RAM, and 256GB internal storage.

Cameras in the smartphone include a 12MP Sony IMX 363 primary shooter on the back which is paired with a 5MP secondary shooter. Other local manufacturers like Xiaomi and Huawei are also using the in-display fingerprint scanning technology on their latest high-end devices, but we are yet to see it present on a widely-available device, even moreso on one that could be bought in the United States of A. The Vivo Nex A is equipped with a 128GB of inbuilt storage. It's unknown what amount of RAM and storage it will come with but it's expected to have a price tag in the region of US$600. The display of the Vivo NEX produces FHD+ resolution of 2316 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.3:9. The front camera on both the devices is 8MP with f/2.0 aperture.

The earpiece has also been removed from its usual spot and has been replaced with a vibrating screen. vivo claims that the Screen SoundCasting Technology should deliver better-sounding bass and softer treble.

The device also sports the same cameras at the rear, however there is no retractable front camera. Like Samsung's Bixby, this too can be activated with a dedicated button on the side of the phone. The NEX and NEX Ultimate phones can be availed in colors like Diamond Black and Ruby Red. The camera also supports DCI-P3 colour gamut. The 8-megapixel front-facing snapper, when started, will make a sound to notify the user.

It's not clear whether the Vivo Nex will be released internationally. With its slide-out selfie camera and in-display fingerprint sensor, it was the sort of thing you don't expect to see on the shelves for years.
