For the users of older versions like Windows 7, Microsoft Answers is an official place where they can find solutions to their problems. It has forums for many Microsoft products and Microsoft employees a number of agents, usually third-party contractors, who interact with users who post on the forum.

If you research a Windows or Microsoft product issue using your favorite search engine, you usually get Microsoft Answers results in the top ten listing.

Microsoft Band - this topic will be locked. Staff will still moderate the forums, and community members are asked to continue to participate in topics that remain open.

Coming to the hardware side, the company has announced that it will no longer offer forum support for the Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2, Surface RT, and Surface 2.

The change will take into effect on July 2018, and Microsoft Staff will no longer proactively review, monitor, or answer questions for a certain subset of old Microsoft products (seen below).

Naturally, it makes sense that these products are discontinued as Microsoft no longer supports them regardless.

The support for the below products will be discontinued across different forums in the Community. For Windows 8.1, the extended support will terminate on January 10, 2023.

Customers are still able to get paid support from Microsoft through to the end of the extended support periods.

Every other action by Microsoft reminds us that, maybe, it's time to upgrade to their latest offering: Windows 10.

While Microsoft still keeps Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 in extended support, it's clear that the firm is shifting support scope to mainline supported devices shifting forward.
