While the announcement wasn't exactly positively received, it appears that Microsoft is bringing its Gears of War franchise to the platform as well.
Interestingly, there was also a Kinect game called Gears of War: Tactics, which went quiet a few years ago, so this is likely the result of that project. Studio head Rod Fergusson talked about the evolution of the "Gears of War" franchise at the event. Gears 5 shifts its focus to Kait Diaz, diving deeper into her background with a continuation on 2016's Gears of War 4. One is a spinoff based on a Funko Pop look, while Gears Tactics is a turn-based strategy game.
The Youtube description may lend credence to that theory: "In Gears 5 as Kait, journey across the biggest, most attractive Gears world ever created".
Microsoft has also confirmed that Gears 5 will feature local and online co-op modes, though you can of course play the game solo if you prefer.
Gears 5 will be coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 PC in 2019. We wish we knew more about it, but that's literally all we know.
