Zero crossings are seen as buy and sell signals, with tops and bottoms yielding overbought and oversold information. Using the CCI as a leading indicator, technical analysts may use a +100 reading as an overbought signal and a -100 reading as an oversold indicator, suggesting a trend reversal. Moving averages are considered to be lagging indicators that simply take the average price of a stock over a certain period of time. The main assumption is that prices tend to reverse when ranges widen beyond historical averages. This makes pullbacks to the MAMA and FAMA suitable with-trend entry areas.

Tracking moving averages is one of the most universally used techniques for performing technical stock analysis. Looking at some moving average levels on shares of Ishares IV Plc (RISE.L), the 200-day is at 406.26, the 50-day is 392.08, and the 7-day is sitting at 400.36. Moving averages can help identify trends and price reversals. On the other side, a stock may be considered to be in a downtrend if trading below the moving average and sloping downward. They may also be used to help the trader figure out proper support and resistance levels for the stock.

Traders may also be paying close attention to RSI levels on shares of Marquette Natl Cp (MNAT). The 14-day RSI is now at 69.26, the 7-day stands at 68.64, and the 3-day is sitting at 44.4. This range falls on a scale between 0 and 100. When the RSI line moves up, the stock may be experiencing strength. If the RSI is closer to 100, this may indicate a period of stronger momentum. Looking at some alternate time periods, the 12 month price index is 0.97562, the 24 month is 0.97140, and the 36 month is 0.97064. An RSI reading over 70 would be considered overbought, and a reading under 30 would indicate oversold conditions. Investors may use Price to Book to display how the market portrays the value of a stock. ETFS Foreign Exchange Limited (USGB.L)'s Williams Percent Range or 14 day Williams %R presently is at -89.62.

At the time of writing, G-X Superdividend ETF (SDIV) has a 14-day Commodity Channel Index (CCI) of 158.28. Some analysts believe that the ADX is one of the best trend strength indicators available. Although the CCI indicator was developed for commodities, it has become a popular tool for equity evaluation as well. Developed by Donald Lambert, the CCI is a versatile tool that may be used to help spot an emerging trend or provide warning of extreme conditions. The ADX alone measures trend strength but not direction. The ADX is often used along with the Plus Directional Indicator (+DI) and Minus Directional Indicator (-DI) to identify the direction of the trend.

iShares Edge MSCI Min Vol Asia exJpn ETF (NYSEARCA:AXJV) has positive May 16 day. Generally speaking, an ADX value from 0-25 would indicate an absent or weak trend. A level under 20 would indicate no trend, and a reading from 20-25 would suggest that there is no clear trend signal.
