We now know a third person was killed during Tuesday's violent storm in the Hudson Valley. She was heading south on Red Schoolhouse Road near Garrett Court when the incident happened.

The 11-year-old girl was extricated from the vehicle by the fire department and transported to St. Luke's hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The accident is still under investigation by the Ramapo Police Department.

The storm brought torrential rain, hail, thunder and winds up to 70 miles per hour to New York City and the surrounding suburbs in the tri-state area.

Police said the girl and her mother had just arrived home and were unloading the vehicle when the tree fell.

Firefighters were able to pull her from the vehicle, however, she died shortly after at the hospital. The mother suffered minor injuries.

Cuomo declared a state of emergency in Putnam County, deploying 125 New York National Guard members to further assist the community, while utility crews restore power to thousands of people left in the dark. Commuters also experienced heavy delays and cancellations.
