Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz could have some company on the sideline during the team's upcoming spring workouts. While there is some hope he could participate in organized team activities or minicamp, the more concrete goal is to be ready for training camp in July, sources said. Wentz will miss all of the preseason after tearing two ligaments in his left knee against the Los Angeles Rams on December 10.

Part of the cost of winning the Super Bowl has been offseason surgeries, the Eagles have found. Players who made it through the 19-game grind might not have done so without incurring damage. He sat out the regular-season finale against Dallas but went on to play a key role for the Eagles in the playoffs.

News that Graham played the postseason with a high ankle sprain - a debilitating injury - comes against the backdrop of the Eagles' 2010 first-round draft choice seeking a contract extension.

Reports keep coming of various players who didn't make it through last season unscathed and had recent surgery. Derek Barnett, the rookie defensive end who recovered the Brady fumble caused by Graham, has undergone sports hernia surgery.

This represents his thinking with the injuries or without, and it should help his team from being exhausted or otherwise flat to start the season, as Super Bowl teams have been known to be seven months after playing in their last game. Vinny Curry was released and signed with Tampa Bay. Give Philadelphia credit for taking the better safe than sorry approach since this shows they will at least be prepared if Graham's absence lasts longer than originally expected.
