Speaking of uncertainty, a lot of people believe that the number or date 2021 on the teaser website is some special hint, while other people believe that it's the date when S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will release.
If you're unfamiliar with the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series of games, they made for a neat mix of first-person shooting and RPG elements set in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. As for what the unusual acronym means, it was apparently revealed to be "Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers, and Robbers" back in 2012 when the first attempt at making S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was underway. The project is now underway at GSC Game World.
The release is scheduled for 2021.
Right out of nowhere, GSC Game World studio head, Sergiy Grygorovych, came forth on Facebook and announced that the company is developing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
There's bugger all info available at the moment, but fans of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. can rejoice: you're getting a sequel.
I didn't think we'd ever see a numbered sequel to 2007's S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, a game that will probably still be getting new mods long after we're all gone, but these are odd times. A new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is like a Russian Half-Life 3. What is your fondest memory from the series?
