Kensington Palace would not comment further. The Palace also confirmed Thomas would be arriving in England in the week ahead of the wedding.

Samantha Markle told the "Good Morning Britain" TV show that Thomas Markle recently panicked while driving on the highway because he was being followed by numerous press cars, what she called a "dangerous situation". Apparently spending 20 minutes on the computer reading news stories about the pair, the photographs were later distributed to worldwide media.

Mr Markle became embroiled in controversy after allegedly staging paparazzi photographs of himself in the run-up to the royal nuptials at Windsor Castle on Saturday. All in all, a cute story about an excited father ready to see his daughter married.

Ms Markle has two paternal half-siblings, Ms Grant and Thomas Markle Jr.

Meghan Markle is reportedly concerned for the wellbeing of her father.

Doria Ragland also made headlines last week for a reported meeting with Oprah Winfrey to discuss ideas for a tell-all interview with the talk show queen, according to the Daily Mail.

"The bad press over my father doing staged photos is my fault". The website reported that he said money was not his primary motivation for agreeing to be photographed and he was opting to miss the wedding to avoid embarrassing his daughter and the royal family. They have been saying this for weeks, while trying to offer him support and help.

The site also said he suffered a heart attack less than a week ago.

"There is no plan in place yet who will walk Meghan down the aisle", the source adds.

"I have to say I am entirely the culprit".

9NEWS US Correspondent Charles Croucher spoke to a hospital in Rosario, Mexico, where Mr Markle was taken several days ago, and a spokesperson said he only spent one day there on May 3.

"I can't tell you how delighted I am to be chosen to make Prince Harry and Ms Markle's wedding cake", the chef said. "He feels that anyone who gets associated with his life - this is the price they have to pay".

May 15, 2018 Following all of the above, Kensington Palace released a statement, asking the media for privacy during the time.

"This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding".

Making a royal wedding cake is a big undertaking and the chef behind Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's culinary centrepiece has given an insight into her preparations. Perhaps most confused of all were Prince Harry and the rest of the royal family, who found out that the father of the bride would be skipping the royal wedding when the rest of the world did, from news reports, according to TMZ.
