Perhaps Xiaomi will utilize the Surge S2 in China and the Qualcomm SoC in worldwide markets like India. Folks at XDA Developers managed to get hold of the firmware files of the Redmi S2, which revealed a lot of details about the smartphone. However, in India the smartphone may launch as Mi A2, succeeding the Mi A1 Android One which was launched only past year.

As far as the specifications of Redmi Note 5 are concerned it features a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with a screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels, a colour contrast ratio of 1000:1 and 450-nits brightness.

Xiaomi could unveil a 16GB storage variant for the phone, along with microSD card support.

Redmi S2 is a budget Xiaomi smartphone but will come with a dual rear camera setup. On the hardware front, the upcoming entry-level Redmi phone will be powered by the same processor as the Redmi Note 5 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which is the Snapdragon 625 chipset. The 3GB variant of the device has 32GB of internal storage, while 4GB model has and 64GB of storage option.

As per the reports, Xiaomi will be launching a budget smartphone in India called Redmi S2. The camera will also come with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and Portrait Mode with background blurring feature. Coming of the optics set up, the Redmi phone is expected to be sport a dual camera set up on the rear panel. It may feature 12-megapixel Sony IMX486 or 12-megapixel OmniVision OV12A10 as the primary sensor that will be coupled with 5-megpaixel Samsung S5K5E8 sensor. On the front, the smartphone houses a 5-megapixel front-facing selfie camera. Even though the new MIUI 9.5 is associated with Android Oreo, the devices in question aren't getting Oreo, rather, the update only brings Xiaomi-made changes and updates based on Nougat 7.1.

The Mi A2 is said to have slightly lower capacity than the outgoing model, with a 2910 mAh battery powering the smartphone. It may launch in India first, and then make its way to its home market China.

The same thing can be seen in the Mi 6X but more importantly, Xiaomi is going to be attracting a lot of customers very soon.
