Over 70 pounds of marijuana discovered during traffic stop

Somebody's 4/20 celebration may have been spoiled today.

Authorities say an Iowa man was arrested after deputies found marijuana in his vehicle after stopping it along Interstate 80 near Lincoln.

State Police say the trooper was patrolling Interstate 70 when he noticed an SUV was weaving outside the traffic lanes on Monday. The estimated is street value of the pot is $500,000 - $600,000, officials with the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office said.

When the SUV was pulled over near mile marker 397, the trooper smelled the odor of marijuana.

The vehicle was driven by 51-year-old Christian Elie of Elbert, of Colorado, and there was one passenger, 42-year-old Austin Johnson, of Indianapolis.

The arrests and charges remain under investigation by Indiana State Police.
