And now, Saber Interactive has officially announced NBA Playgrounds 2, coming to PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One.
A leak via the Australian Classification Board for a sequel to NBA Playgrounds has been confirmed by a post on the PlayStation Blog. We'll make sure to report back with more information as soon as it's made available.
Playgrounds Championship mode will also add a new "worldwide ranked league system", offering several competitive solo and co-op division ladders to ascend, whereas Season mode serves up a new single-player strand that has you leading a team through a regular NBA season into the playoffs, and hopefully to an NBA Championship win. According to the company, the game will launch with a massive roster of over 200 current and retired National Basketball Association players, including some of the more well-known stars in the game.
You can check out some screenshots and the game's reveal trailer below. Season Mode is a single player experience that will help players hone their skills before taking to the online modes and matches.
As for multiplayer, Saber Interactive promises that the matchmaking has been greatly improved, and that players can now do four-player matches online.
NBA Playgrounds 2 is expected to launch sometime in 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You can also look forward to new player models, animations and facial animations, improved AI, new original music, and new gameplay mechanics like double alley-oops. While the game's reception was lukewarm, NBA Playgrounds sold very well.
