Cohen disclosed that Hannity is a client in an effort to prevent investigators from looking at records pertaining to the work he did for him. Hannity has been covering the story surrounding Cohen on his Fox News show, leading to concerns about a conflict of interest.
"The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert also questioned Hannity's dealings with Trump's lawyer.
For now Hannity's employer, Fox News, isn't commenting on the issue, but even some fellow Fox hosts are raising questions. Many people are scratching their heads, wondering why pre-President Trump doesn't enjoy attorney-client privilege with his lawyer. Attorneys for Trump and Cohen sought to review the records on the legal clients before they are turned over to prosecutors. Federal Bureau of Investigation agents raided Cohen's home, office and hotel room on the morning of April 9, a move that Trump called an "attack on our country". Hannity said Cohen never sent him a bill for legal services and he never paid Cohen for his advice.
During a conversation on former FBI Director James Comey and the Russian Federation probe, Dershowitz brought up the revelation that Trump's longtime personal attorney Michael Cohen named Hannity as a client and told Hannity that he should have told viewers about that relationship.
In a court filing Sunday night, lawyers for Mr Trump asked to be allowed to review documents that in any way relate to the president.
"I've known Michael for a long time and let me be very clear to the media, Michael never represented me in any matter". "And a source close to [my close personal friend Donald] tonight is telling Fox News that [Mueller's whole thing] is way out of control", Sean revealed last Monday.
"Yeah, it turns out Michael Cohen's secret client was Sean Hannity, which I'm sorry, is not a good look", Noah said with a chuckle.
Earlier this month, Carrey tweeted a drawing of Hannity as a WWE wrestler, as part of his recent spate of political art.
"As to the one unnamed legal client, we do not believe that Mr. Cohen should be asked to reveal the name or can permissibly do so", the letter said. "You know right now Sean Hannity is probably on the phone with his wife like, 'Hey honey, it's so weird how I use the guy who pays off mistresses to get me out of that parking ticket'".
Hannity and Dershowitz, both Fox News figures who Trump reportedly gets advice from, discussed Hannity's relationship to Cohen on his show Monday evening.
"Hannity talked about Michael Cohen a million times", she continued. "They'll be like 'drink tummy tea, by the way, I'm sponsored by tummy tea'". The unexpected naming of Hannity made him the latest prominent media personality to be drawn into the investigation's cast of unlikely supporting characters.
The contract in the confidential settlement between Broidy and Bechard included the same aliases - "David Dennison" and "Peggy Peterson" - that were used in a 2016 contract between Trump and Daniels, according to a person familiar with the deal.
Maddow then went on to recount just a portion of the news involving Cohen and how weird it all had become.
Over several segments that followed, the network attacked Hannity for working with Cohen, for not disclosing this to his viewers, and for calling his show "news".
After last night's show, it seemed there was another contender for that title.
