"Recovering from an arthroscopy on my knee".

Manchester City and Argentina striker Sergio Aguero has undergone minor knee surgery and will seemingly struggle to return in time for any of his side's final five matches of the season.

Unfortunately for Etisalat, an Emirates-based telecommunications company, City's title was not actually secured in the manner they had envisaged.

City sealed their fifth top-flight title on Sunday when rivals Manchester United, needing to avoid defeat to prolong the inevitable, slipped to a shock 1-0 defeat to Championship-bound West Brom at Old Trafford.

City's main backer Etihad Airways also produced a short video of congratulations which featured players Claudio Bravo, Danilo and Ilkay Gundogan.

The Argentine ace has netted 30 times in all competitions for Premier League Champions, Man City despite being off for a month with a knee problem.

Returning to full fitness in time for this summer's World Cup will now be Aguero's main concern, with the showpiece event in Russian Federation now just two months away.

"It's been a pleasure to play with this team and be part of everything we've achieved this season".

"This is my third title with City and it's just a relief not to have to wait (until) the final day this time", Aguero told City's Twitter account.

"Now the trick is making sure we kick on again next season and come back even stronger".

"But for now, let's enjoy the moment together with our fans and finish strongly".
