One firefighter was taken to a hospital from the scene of a large brush fire in Armstrong County Friday, the assistant chief of the Burrell Township Volunteer Fire Department said.
Dry conditions and high winds were contributing to brush fires around the region Friday.
"The combination of gusty winds, low relative humidity and low fuel moisture will enhance the threat for the spread of wildfires", the statement read.
Officials said no injuries were reported in the fire, which authorities were alerted to around 3:40 p.m. Thursday.
Residents of North Park apartments are considering evacuating as the flames spread.
James Heaton with the Tennessee Division of Forestry spoke to us over the phone as he was on his way to the fire just before 4p.m. "The final size is estimated to be approximately 300 acres".
Firefighters say the fire was not caused by severe weather.
The fire has burned at least 15 acres and continues to grow. However, there have been no reports yet of any buildings catching fire.
