Jaguar have used the New York Motor Show 2018 to present a new addition to the F-Pace range, a Jaguar F-PACE SVR! Next year, the hyper-competitive segment is expected to grow by double digits in the US alone, according to analytics firm IHS Markit. The 176mph SUV is powered by the same 5.0-litre V8 engine as the F-Type SVR and will start from £74,835 when it reaches showrooms in the summer.
With the new Dynamic Driving Mode engaged, Jaguar claims the F-Pace SVR initiates more responsive gearshifts, sharper throttle responses and increased steering response for a more engaging driving experience.
The $42,065 F-Pace holds the power at Jaguar as its most popular vehicle, and the $79,990 SVR version is the sexiest of its kind. The Jaguar F-Type wears an SVR badge in its halo edition too.
Enhancements to the F-Pace - a vehicle named the 2017 World Car of the Year by an global jury - include an aerodynamic package with restyled front and rear bumpers, rear spoiler, lower body sides and larger air intakes at the front and side fenders.
There are larger, lighter discs for the braking system, new lightweight, 21-inch forged alloy wheels, recalibrated steering and electronic driver aids, plus the addition of an electronic active differential for the rear wheels, which is created to enhance the F-Pace SVR's roadholding.
Of course. Jag has whacked on an SVR aerodynamic package, which awards the F-Pace a unique look.
542bhp Jaguar F-Pace SVR squares up to Porsche Macan Turbo
The 2019 Jaguar F-Pace SVR debuts on the eve of the 2018 NYIAS. No doubt it will enhance the feeling of sportiness inside this SUV.
As if that weren't enough to get a reaction on the school run, the division of the company responsible for creating the F-Pace SVR - Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations - has fitted a tuned exhaust system that comes with the signature growl that every sports auto driver loves.
The interior comes dressed in four available color themes: Red with Jet, Light Oyster with Jet, Siena Tan with Jet and Jet with Light Oyster stitching. Buyers can register their interest for the new SVR now, ahead of formal orders being taken from this summer. There's also a Sport Shift Selector on the lower console and an SVR branded steering wheel with tactile aluminum paddle shifters along with a standard Touch Pro infotainment system with 10-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch HD instrument cluster.
With 542bhp, the five-seat SUV is capable of causing children to erupt with laughter or scream in terror, depending on their disposition.
The SUV comes with 21-inch or 22-inch rims.
However, SVO dynamics manager David Pook said the F-Pace SVR is not an overly firm vehicle with an uncomfortable ride and offers greatly different characteristics between its driving modes. An upgraded chassis gains a set of progressive front and rear springs that are 30- and 10-percent stiffer respectively, incorporating an anti-roll system that contributes to a 5 percent overall reduction in body roll.
