Minnesota Vikings fans need this 'You Vike That?' Kirk Cousins t-shirt

With free agency set to open Wednesday morning, it would seem that former Washington Redskins' quarterback Kirk Cousins has found his new home.

One can nearly imagine how the scene played out inside the Minnesota Vikings' new team headquarters Tuesday morning in Eagan, Minnesota, with Rick Spielman, Mike Zimmer and John DeFilippo simultaneous slapping high-fives and celebrating the excitement of landing Kirk Cousins by doing their best impersonation of the quarterback's meme-worthy moment in Washington.

The Washington quarterback will sign a three-year, $84 million contract. The same Case Keenum who went 11-3 as the Vikings starter, bringing the team to within one win of the Super Bowl. "Last summer, I didn't feel at peace about committing past the season".

In 2017, Cousins posted another 4,000 yard passing season.

Never before had a player received a fully guaranteed contract in the NFL.

Is $87 million guaranteed too much?

The NFL has promoted Maryann Turcke to chief operating officer, making her the highest-ranking woman at the league offices.

Cousins initially tagged the Vikings and the Jets at the bottom of the letter, but swiftly removed any reference to his suitors. He's obviously going to cost more than any of Minnesota's three internal free agent options from last season, but Cousins comes with a solid track record as a starter and no pre-existing injury concerns. Is Kirk Cousins worth all this money? With McCown, Bridgewater and a top quarterback in this year's draft (with one notable exception), they'll be in far better shape than they were at the end of last season.

If the Vikings can eradicate some of Cousins' flaws and make him more consistent, they can be a force. No team could offer a better one than the Vikings.

The Vikings made a statement that they feel Cousins gives them the best chance of reaching the pinnacle in the National Football League - not Case Keenum, Sam Bradford, Teddy Bridgewater or any other quarterback available in free agency. The first player picked in the 2010 NFL Draft, Bradford's career has been marked by injuries. Getting reliable running back Isaiah Crowell fills the void left by the retirement of Matt Forte, and snagging cornerback Trumaine Johnson, one of the most highly rated free agents at his position, was a coup. He led the league by completing 71.6-percent of his passes. When the offseason rolled around, Cousins was tagged again - and this time, it was Cousins who had reservations.

If the players can get these deals, good for them. If he plays to his worth, though, he could significantly alter how billion-dollar entities spend their money going forward. They'll also have Dalvin Cook back from an ACL tear. But the Jets also were reported to have a deal with Teddy Bridgewater ready for Wednesday. "At least one other team will do a similar deal almost fully guaranteed".
