Microsoft said the move from the LACC to the Microsoft Theater was done in response to changes at E3 itself, which is once again open to the public and will feature extended show hours in 2018.
This was followed by a new report in The Verge, which claims that the new Avatars will be available to Xbox Insiders this month, followed by a full release in April. The new avatars have been shown to include more customizable options that included props, outfits, and even previewed accommodations for amputees, as shown in the reveal trailer above.
Microsoft will have a very different presence at this year's E3.
How could Microsoft possibly out-do previous E3 conferences, where it introduced the Xbox One S and Xbox One X?
Microsoft's Xbox E3 briefing is set for June 10, 2018, at 1 pm PT/4 PM ET.
Microsoft's briefings will probably be the first among other console manufacturers because it is taking place on a Sunday.
As we get closer to the biggest video game event of the year, it's natural for E3 news to begin trickling out.
In collaboration with the Entertainment Software Association, the organizers of E3, Xbox will be taking over the Microsoft Theater, across the street from the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) where the E3 conference takes place. Following that, it will host Xbox FanFest events, hands-on demos for E3 attendees, and more.
Microsoft says that it will also have a "meaningful presence" at the LACC, including a booth dedicated exclusively to Mixer, its game streaming service.
Microsoft will certainly have a lot of announcements to make at E3 2018 but it's tightlipped about them at this point in time.
