TMC raises PNB scam in Rajya Sabha, House adjourned till 2 pm

The Lok Sabha was adjourned till Wednesday and the Rajya Sabha till 2 pm.

They raised the issue of alleged fleeing of Lalit Modi and Vijay Mallya even as some members raised slogans on the recent PNB scam. However, the Opposition persisted with its demand.

Minutes earlier, he had appealed to all the members of the Upper House of Parliament not to display placards and banners as it was against the rules.

Several opposition parities including, the Congress and the TMC raised the similar issue in Lok Sabha as well.

Within minutes after it met, members from various parties trooped near the Speaker's podium, raising slogans on different issues, including the banking irregularities. The proceedings of the lower house lasted almost nine minutes and saw various members table reports of the standing committees on energy, labour, petroleum and natural gas, water resources, chemicals and fertilisers and rural development. Amid noisy scene, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the House for the day.

Members from Telugu Desam Party, an ally of NDA, also trooped into the well demanding special status to Andhra Pradesh.

After the proceedings were adjourned, TDP and TRS members were seen talking to Highways minister Nitin Gadkari and Parliamentary minister Ananth Kumar.

"It seems Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi don't believe in democracy", he told reporters.

The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha faced repeated adjournments before adjourning for the day.

The proposed law will apply to defaulters who have an outstanding of Rs 100 crore or more and have escaped from the country.

He also introduced the Chit Funds (Amendment) Bill, 2018.

The first week of the resumed Budget session was a complete washout.
