Arizona now has no incoming recruits in its 2018 class since guard Brandon Williams announced he was de-committing from the Wildcats Friday.
"These past few days have obviously been hard for me". His decision comes just days after top-50 power forward Shareef O'Neal, the son of Shaquille O'Neal, backed away from Arizona and committed to UCLA. "Playing for the University of Arizona has always been a childhood dream of mine".
Arizona has struggled to recruit since September when it became ensnared in the FBI's investigation into bribery and corruption in college basketball.
"With the current climate surrounding U of A and by signing financial aid papers, I have the opportunity to explore other options", said Williams.
Prized Arizona commit Jahvon Quinerly reopened his recruitment before the November signing period and eventually committed to Villanova last month. With the star point guard's decision, Arizona is now left with zero recruits in the 2018 cycle. In his statement Friday, Williams insisted he isn't ruling out Arizona. Williams released a message on Twitter for the Arizona fans can coaching staff.
Ranked No. 40 in the ESPN 100, Williams missed his junior season and all of AAU season due to knee surgery.
