Governors' Forum led by its Chairman, H.E. Rochas Okorocha of Imo State.

President Muhammadu Buhari met behind closed doors with members of the 18 state governors of the APC Governors' Forum in Daura, Katsina State on Friday.

Buhari had on Thursday flown to Daura from Abuja ahead of the meeting, which many believed was scheduled to hold in his home town because of the importance he attached to it.

Although, the agenda of the meeting was not confirmed by the President's spokesmen, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu, the visit may also be connected to last week's death of two members of his family.

One of them, Hajiya Halima Dauda who was buried in the President's hometown of Daura was described by Mr Shehu as the President's niece and younger sister to his close associate Mamman Daura.

But informed sources said that Buhari would meet with the governors over the 2019 presidential polls, especially concerning whether he will run for a second term or not. He said the governors also used the opportunity to commend the President for appointing Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as APC Chief Mediator.

But the governor has described them as "mere attention seekers" and fingered the senator representing Kaduna North, Suleiman Hunkuyi, as the brain behind the ploy.

According to NAN, the APC leadership and top chieftains of the party would be converging on Daura to commiserate with the president who recently lost two members of his extended family.

And the governors visit to Daura may be to give support to President Buhari.
