Bangladesh, who lost the tri-series final and the Test series, initially included Shakib in their squad for the two T20 matches, the first of which is on Thursday in Dhaka.

Both the teams need to adjust to the shortest format of the game as they just completed the two-Test series.

The star all-rounder also missed the recent Test series against Sri Lanka after sustaining the injury during the one-day worldwide tri-series final against the same opponents in January.

In India, Star Select 2 will be telecasting the series while Ghazi Tv will show the games live for viewers in Bangladesh. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 pm IST and will be played at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. You can catch ball-by-ball live commentary and cricket score of Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka 1st T20, 2018 here.

Bangladesh will be without the services of regular captain Shakib-al-Hasan and thus Mahmudullah will lead the side.

In the statement released by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), they confirmed that no one will replace Gunaratne. The hosts may even miss opener Tamim Iqbal and wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, who have injury concerns. Right-hander Kusal Mendis has been added to the squad and is likely to feature in the playing XI. Largely due to injuries, Bangladesh fielded as many as four debutants in Afif Hossain, Ariful Haque, Nazmul Islam and Zakir Hasan while Sri Lanka handed a maiden cap to Shehan Madushanka.
