While the official statement simply cited "a scheduling conflict" as the reason behind the altered performance schedule, there's speculation that he will be busy that weekend celebrating the union of Prince Harry and Markle.

Markle and Harry will explore the inside of the historic Edinburgh Garrison which looks out across the city, and behold the one pm gun fire - a tradition that started in 1861 to mark time for ships in the Firth of Forth. It's called "Social Bite", and the work being done there has already attracted attention from Hollywood royalty.

The couple began their visit at Edinburgh Castle, meeting and greeting members of the public in the esplanade.

Speaking ahead of the royal couple's Edinburgh visit, Ross said: 'All eyes will be on Edinburgh as Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle carry out their first official engagement north of the border. Following the visit to the castle, Harry and Markle visited the social enterprise cafe, Social Bite, which distributes thousands of food and beverage items to the homeless in Scotland each year.

Charities have previously spoken about how Meghan has drawn comparisons to Princess Diana with her charitable efforts.

Mrs Thorpe said: "Meghan thanked us for braving the cold for them. A wee touch of Meghan adds a bit of sparkle". She is convinced that the "Horrible Bosses" actress would make a great team with Prince Harry.

And this isn't too far of a stretch to be considered legitimately true, as it turns out Sheeran has quite a bit of history with the royal family, and, in particular, the groom-to-be. "We are visiting Edinburgh for the half term and we are actually considering moving to Edinburgh soon".

The Prince and Meghan Markle stepped out in Edinburgh for their first Royal visit to the country north of England at lunchtime.

The trip was Meghan's first visit to Scotland, where she was met upon arrival by an adorable Shetland pony, also dressed in a tartan coat.
