Joe Gomez, who definitely has a bright career ahead of him, is ecstatic that Liverpool have signed Virgil van Dijk and can not wait to learn from him in his bid to become a top centre back.

"They have brought in a defender and if you look at where Liverpool's problems have been over the last few years, it has been defensively", the former Liverpool captain told Sky Sports.

"It doesn't make me nervous, it's a big compliment to myself for the hard work I've put in so far, that Liverpool are willing to pay that much money".

Goalkeeper: Loris Karius started during the FA Cup win over Everton last time out but I think we'll see Simon Mignolet recalled between the sticks against City. Of course, both have made their fair share of mistakes but as young defenders in a hugely competitive league, what more could you expect? "Sometimes it's a bit insane, but I like it". I think after all that happened it wasn't easy to do anything good. "If we do it in this window, I don't know". "That's where a club like this aims to be and I think we have all the attributes to do it with our manager and the squad that we have".

"It was unbelievable. Some of my family and friends said you will score on your debut, but to actually do it, in the 84th minute, is something very special. I can't give enough thanks to the manager here, the club and it's been fantastic for me".

"People ask a lot more of us, especially at a club like Liverpool".

"He's got great attributes and that's something I can look at and see what he does from day to day".

The whole interview is definitely worth your time.
