HTC's begun hyping up the arrival of a brand new handset in China at an event on January 15.
Under the hood, the U11 EYEs reportedly packs a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 652, a system-on-chip in big.LITTLE configuration with four high-performance ARM-A72 cores and four energy-efficient Cortex-A53 cores.
There is also a microSD card slot, which enables users to further expand the phone's storage capacity using a microSD card. It was also speculated that the company would launch a cheaper version of its flagship smartphone U11 Plus sometime in January.
In a tweet sent out early this morning, Blass shared images of the upcoming smartphone, which he says is called the HTC U11 'EYEs.' Rumours of this device started to filter out late previous year when Blass and others reported that HTC was working on a smartphone codenamed "Ocean Harmony".
This new smartphone of HTC is having IP67 certification to be water and dust-resistant. Also take note of the smaller bezels up front and the fingerprint sensor on the back, which is a welcome change in my EYEs (ha, pun). First spotted by the website Playfuldroid, the invitation also shows dual cameras in the background.
The HTC U11 EYEs will likely cost around $400 in Hong Kong.
There are rumored to be two different HTC U11 EYEs models announced at the HTC event, with the second more premium model running a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, which is a notable improvement over the base model's 652.
