UCF Fans Challenge Alabama to Home-and-Home Series via Billboard

For Crimson Tide fans, it would be sweet to witness a possible rout by Alabama, if only to quiet the Knights' wild "national champions" talk.

Alabama is your national champion. The Knights went 13-0 to cap the only ideal season in the Football Bowl Subdivision. The group, however, missed deadlines, so the fans changed the ad and the made arrangements to put the sign near the University of Alabama.

The original plan was to buy a billboard in Atlanta for Monday's College Football Playoff Championship Game between Alabama and Georgia. The Knights received four first-place votes and were one of just two teams to receive first-place votes.

But that didn't stop 37 UCF fans from pooling $1,665 on GoFundMe for the billboard, according to ESPN.

Soren Petro, a radio show host in Kansas City, inexplicably gave UCF their lowest ranking at No. 10 behind teams such as Auburn (which UCF obviously beat head-to-head) and Miami (which lost their home bowl game). "All we needed was a chance to play harder opponents".

While the buzz continues over UCF's National Championship, a new ranking was released that left the Knights in the No. 1 position. Florida Gov. Rick Scott also proclaimed the team champs, saying that they would be recognized as such, at least within the state of Florida. The Knights beat the Crimson Tide 40-38 on October 28, 2000, in Tuscaloosa.
