TMZ: 'Coach' Star Jerry Van Dyke Dead at 86

Jerry Van Dyke, comedian, actor, and brother of Dick Van Dyke, dies at 86.

Jerry's wife, Shirley, tells us. he died Friday afternoon at their Arkansas ranch with her by his side.

Van Dyke appeared on The Dick Van Dyke show, one of his earliest appearances as Stacey Petrie in 1962.

With scores of TV and movie appearances, Van Dyke scored his greatest success with the long-running ABC comedy "Coach", playing assistant coach Luther Van Dam opposite series star Craig T. Nelson. Van Dyke earned four consecutive Emmy nominations thanks to his comedy chops on the series. A few of his other ill-fated projects included "Accidental Family", "Headmaster" and "13 Queens Boulevard".

He was the younger brother of Dick Van Dyke, and was also a comedian who pursued stand-up while still a young man, performing often at the world's military bases.

In his personal life, Van Dyke married twice. "This is as good as it's ever been'".
