The Sears store in the Burlington Mall will close in April, one of 103 Sears and Kmart stores its parent company will shutter this year.

The closing store list includes 64 Kmart locations and 39 Sears locations, according to a Business Insider report.

Sears Holdings Corp. will close its namesake location at Brookfield Square in mid-March, company officials announced Thursday.

A spokesperson for Sears Holdings declined to say how many employees will be affected by the closings. Most of the retailers' employees are part-time. The company intends to close approximately 19 additional stores as leases or operating covenants expire or sales transactions are completed.

Sears Holdings had a better-than-expected fiscal third quarter; the company reported a net loss of $558 million compared to a net loss of $748 million for the third quarter of 2016 (an improvement of $190 million).

Linda Boggs, marketing director for the Sears mall, said the shopping center will be renamed.

"That means someone else will expand into the mall and possibly bring better business", she said.

"We're working on finalizing plans and should have more to share in the coming weeks", Keating said.

Sears Holdings has announced that a local K-Mart location will be closing in 2018.

Merchandise liquidation sales will begin as early as January 12. The Macy's in downtown Miami also is closing the same month. Costello told an ADN reporter Friday afternoon that both locations would close, but later said the Old Seward Highway location is not closing.
