Reliance Jio continues to win hearts of new consumers as the young mobile network operator recorded the highest net addition of 15.25 million subscribers in the third quarter of 2017, according to the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Going by the same, the download speed of Jio 4G was 21.8Mbps in November.
The 4G download speed on Jio network was more than double of its closest competitor Vodafone which registered an average download speed of 9.3 mbps in October. The Mukesh Ambani-led telco has recorded a speed of 19.6Mbps. This is the monthly trend report and Jio's tenth consecutive month of being on the top. While Jio recorded a download speed of 21.8Mbps, Vodafone occupied the second spot at 9.9Mbps speed followed by Airtel with 9.3Mbps speed and Idea with 8.1Mbps speed. In fact, the 4G download speed for Airtel increased rather noticeably, from 7.5Mbps to 9.3Mbps, in a month.
Other telecom operators like Reliance, Idea, Airtel and Vodafone are also giving 1GB of 4G data for a day.
In terms of upload speed, Idea topped the chart with 7.1 Mbps speed.
The telecom war in India, that started past year since Reliance Jio's entry in the telecom sector, doesn't seem to come to an end any soon.
It's also important to note that TRAI's MySpeed app results are entirely crowd-based, so the numbers depend on the amount of people who tested their mobile network speeds that month. On the other hand, the ₹299 prepaid plan offers the same benefits, except that the amount of data offered to the customers is 2 GB per day. Here, Idea tops the rankings at 6.5Mbps, followed by Vodafone at 5.9Mbps, Jio at 4.3Mbps, and Airtel at 4Mbps.
